Sad Fish Story

A bow fisherman by the name of Brent Crawford shot this monster alligator gar in a lake near Corpus Christi, Texs.  This animal weighed more than 300 pounds, which would have been a record had it been hauled in for an official weigh.  More importanly, an alligator gar of this size is as rare as anything in America.  Without a doubt this animal was at least 50 years old.  Was shooting this amazing dinosaur of a fish worth the few crappy filets to be boned off of it?  I am all for hunting and fishing, but sometime the best shot is no shot at all. Picture from Corpus Christi Caller Times.

  1. Thank you for this. I completely agree. I get a little tired of trophy hunters who have no regard for exactly what they're doing when they kill something this unusual.

  2. Yeah, that's sad. That gar was a rare and special fish. There was no good reason to kill it. What a waste.
