Robots tractors will soon plow and fertilize our largest fields using little more than GPS coordinates carefully laid into a hazard map.
Robots already automatically water fields based on ground sensors.
And can robotic sheep and cattle herders be far away?
Imagine a small solar- or motion-powered GPS locator on the animals, and perhaps a capacitor to deliver a small shock to any recalcitrant sheep or cattle.
The herding, of course, would all be done by a couple of little zippy radio-controlled cars like this, linked to an artificial intelligence chip housed in a nearly indestructible unit carrying a few laser, magnetic, and heat-seeking sensors. I will bet this actually exists within 10 years!

Seems a lot quicker than bringing out the accordion. I say it's a success.
