Comparative Economics
Click for bigger.
Nothing to do with dogs, but good map for a sense of economic scale. .
Not really a good map imho. Well, yeah if its meant to give the impression US economy is huge. (Sure it is) Fact is, EU economy is still bigger then USA. Also, 2 big (and the biggest) european economies were left out of that map. (Germany & UK)
Anton, you have reinforced the point, as you are comparing our country to your continent.
Yes, the ENTIRE EU has a larger economy than our single country, but that is mostly because the population of the EU is 25% larger than that of the U.S.
If you look at per capita economies, you find the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) adjusted for Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) to be a bit different.
The U.S. has a GDP-PPP score of $44,362 for 2006, as compared to $27,384 for the EU as a whole. See >> http://politicalcalculations.blogspot.com/2007/11/2006-gdp-ppp-eu-vs-us-smackdown.html
To put this in American terms, the average EU economy is comparable to that of Mississippi, our poorest and most backward state. In fact France, Italy, Great Britain and Germany have lower GDP per capita than all but four of the states in the United States. See >> http://politicalcalculations.blogspot.com/2005/04/eu-vs-usa.html
It must be some strange spin to these numbers............ Well I am sure will tell me it is not ,so nevermind. I hope your country men are spending there welth wiseley..and not spending to much on AKC show dogs, hand guns, fast food and Two Handed Great Swords
Well, we're not rich like the folks in Quatar or Luxembourg!
Actually the U.S. is #6 in percapita GDP, right behind Norway (population of around 5 million). See >> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita
