Over at a web site called Rightly Concerned they seem to be suggesting that God wants Seaworld's management DEAD.
Their rationale? The Bible tells them so!
Chalk another death up to animal rights insanity and to the ongoing failure of the West to take counsel on practical matters from the Scripture....
... If the counsel of the Judeo-Christian tradition had been followed, Tillikum [the Killer Whale that killed its handler] would have been put out of everyone's misery back in 1991 and would not have had the opportunity to claim two more human lives.
Says the ancient civil code of Israel, "When an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner shall not be liable." (Exodus 21:28)
So, your animal kills somebody, your moral responsibility is to put that animal to death. You have no moral culpability in the death, because you didn't know the animal was going to go postal on somebody.
But, the Scripture soberly warns, if one of your animals kills a second time because you didn't kill it after it claimed its first human victim, this time you die right along with your animal. To use the example from Exodus, if your ox kills a second time, "the ox shall be stoned, and its owner also shall be put to death." (Exodus 21:29)
Of course, the Bible also greenlights slavery, rape (provided you pay a small fine and marry the girl), and human sacrifice.
Follow directions people!

Gotta be careful out there, for sure. But, when a prey animal like a horse acts out violently in an aggressive manner, as opposed to acting "violently" as a defensive reaction, you've got trouble. There are very few, if any, true "rogue" horses, though folkloric tales persist and are repeated, usually by people who don't deal with horses. There are dangerous horses, though, and they are usually made that way by their handlers. Sometimes they can be rehabbed and sometimes not. But, unlike a pit bull, horses are not DNA-programmed for serious aggression (even amongst themselves they are by nature self-preserving and quit a fight before injury occurs), and certainly not toward a predator like a human. Some WILL go after a dog, usually after being attacked in the past. My dogs were NEVER allowed in the horse pastures, though they were in the barn as a routine, and knew their place there.
ReplyDeleteWho knows what the story was with the horse in Tennessee (an older man who carried a stick because the horse "was mean" does not sound like someone with experience), but the Arab in Scottsdale had just been given to the new trainer for rehab. The young trainer was evidently persuaded against his better judgment to take him to this HUGE, crazy show, and paid the price. The Arabian horse world is a cruel place, where horses endure hideous practices. Every person I've ever known to get involved with Arabian showing was a dumb ass, and not remotely a horseman. They like the look of these horses (sadly too often well beyond beautiful and over-exaggerated into the grotesque) and never learn a thing about horses. Many MANY classes at these shows are nothing more than "beauty" pageants; they don't even RIDE the horses most of the time. I like some Arabs, and own one now and have had several in the past, so I'm not an Arab hater. I AM an Arabian horse show hater, plain and simple. Sorry for the rant, but not sorry for my feelings.

Hey, that trainer's HAIR was uncovered, so she was the object of God's wrath. That orca was just His Mighty Instrument.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm pretty sure whales are totally not kosher.
