It's Time to Kill This Man's Dog!

I do not wish death on any dog, but if one dog has to die, perhaps this is the one ... if just for the sake of ironic and instructive story value.

Aaron Rochester, the city councilman in Sioux City, Iowa who led an effort to get pit bulls banned in his city, is now appealing to prevent his own dog from being euthanized after it apparently bit a neighbor.

His dog? A Labrador Retriever.

    Oh the irony!

I suggest we then ban all retrievers or any dogs with teeth-- leaving only toothless Chinese crested dogs.

I bet this fellow bought a Labrador thinking that retrievers genetically gentle (i.e., he didn't think he had to socialize or train it).

Everyone forgets that although they may have some tendencies toward being unlikely to bite, you have to train them and socialize them just as any other dog. And these problems are exacerbated when you think of how many of these dogs there are. Some of these dogs are being bred without much regard to temperament, and that's why Golden retrievers are now one of the top biting breeds in the country.
