Fox Scat

This is a piece of fox scat -- placed on my glove, for scale. Notice that the tip of the scat comes to a point, and that there are hairs sticking out of the end. This is typical. No other common scat in my area has a lot of hair in it (other than coyote scat).

This is another bit of fox scat found further long the same trail yesterday. In this specimen, most of the non-hair matter has degraded from exposure to the elements, which gives you a pretty good idea of how much fur fox scat has in it. While most fox scat has large amounts of mouse hair, this scat is mostly deer hair.
