In my experience every "purebred" terrier I've come across - Fox, Welsh, Irish, Scotty, and many others- I always ask the owner about the dogs prey drive and usually receive a kind of half-hearted shrug. "...he likes to chase squirrels sometimes..." or "Yeah- I think she has it in her..."! All three rescue JRTs I've owned have been obsessed with chasing, barking at and trying to kill things. One of them's a natural tunneler who will spend hours in the yard digging under our concrete patio looking for rats. (his current project). I have no doubt when describing these dogs that their main goal in life is either to dig and bark, dig and kill or chase and kill. They have not lost that innate prey drive.
