David Thurston) was an associate of Borlaug's- we lived in Colombia during the 50s and 60s as my Dad worked for the Rockefeller Foundation taking the "Green Revolution" to those benighted Colombian peasants. Ironically for my Dad this work down there led him to question the whole idea of exporting American farming methods (monoculture, pesticides etc.) and he became more of an advocate for helping the small farmer and incorporating traditional sustainable agricultural methods along with new technology. He died in September but his Cornell website lives on: http://www.tropag-fieldtrip.cornell.edu/docthurston/smokinhome.htmlJeff T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01520811975339950553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684843.post-12727336512754641732009-08-24T14:56:58.299-04:002009-08-24T14:56:58.299-04:00I found that really interesting. But as spoiled rotten apes with nuclear weapons, I just hope that we don't destroy the whole thing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
