Y...I just read this from top to bottom- great work! You go down every little alley and cul-de-sac and I appreciate getting a history less all the official kennel club nonsense. I love the cover of the Captain Lucas terrier book- it could be me on one of my squirrel hunts. All pretense of "good dog" is gone and two crazy little white demons bay and pull trying to get critters. I invented a squirrel hunting rig- a 16 foot reel with a splitter and two leashes connected. I walk along with both fiends pulling along- when I see a squirrel I say "get it!" and let the reel loose- they run as fast as they can and tree the little brown bastards- barking and baying. They love it! Yesterday they both broke their collars because of the momentum they'd built up- I heard a "POP" and had two loose dogs. I use harnesses now.
