Novelist Zane Grey with a Striped Marlin caught off Tahiti in 1930. This was the largest game fish ever taken on rod and reel up to that time, and weighed 1,040 pounds even after sharks ate close to 200 pounds from its side and tail.
Zane Grey is pictured below with a 758-pound Bluefin Tuna, his first world record, caught near Liverpool, Nova Scotia in August of 1924.
At one time, Zane Grey held the record for 14 species of fish caught on rod and reel, and when he died he was a wildly popular writer of westerns. Over 110 films and and a television series have been made from his written works. The National Park Service maintains his former home in Lackawaxen, in Pike County, Pennsylvania very near where he is buried.

Zane Grey's cabin on the Rogue River in southern Oregon is open to the public also. It's now owned by the BLM.

It's a neat side hike while rafting the Rogue and well worth seeing.
