Swallowing Dogs and Raccoons Whole

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that a small lap dog kenneled in the backyard of a Caniaba, New South Wales home in Australia was swallowed whole by a Carpet Python. When the owner went into her yard to collect her Chihuahua-Maltese mix, she found an over 8-foot long snake with the dog's chain coming out of its mouth.

We can expect to see similar situations in Florida in the future now that more than 100,000 Burmese Pythons are residing in the Everglades.

The 15-foot snake, below, weighed 162 pounds and had a 6-foot alligator in his stomach.

A 2012 study of Everglades National Park found that 99 percent of raccoons have disappeared since pythons became established, and that marsh rabbits and foxes have completely vanished.

I have often said that if I find a great big snake in my back yard, I am NOT calling ACO. I will in fact invite the neighbors to a snake on the barby moment. This will be to buy their silence about me firing my shotgun multiple times in the city limits.

Well now I know where to send my nuisance 'coons I live trap in the back yard. Thanks!
