Fifty years ago today, a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper.
Also fifty years ago today, I was born in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe), a caesarian section to a mom who hailed from Augusta, Kansas and a dad who hailed from Pineville, Kentucky.
As far as anyone knows, there is no connection to these two events.
Sorry about the scar, mom! Sorry about the scare dad!
